A Note From Pastor Beth…
September was a busy month at Greenwich Presbyterian Church! Volunteers finished painting the sanctuary and sprucing up everywhere inside and out and on Sept. 20 we hosted a meeting of the West Jersey Presbytery for the first-time in 40-50 some years! (I know that because a member told me she was in the confirmation class the last time Presbytery was here—but I don’t know for sure how old she is!) Anyway, what a thrill to have the sanctuary full and to hear so many voices singing! Many thanks to everyone who helped with this event!
With no rest for the weary, four days later volunteers pitched our tent at the Greenwich Artisans and Craft Faire and sold soup, drinks and desserts to hungry Faire goers! Now some of those same volunteers are getting ready for our Chicken Pot Pie dinner (see details below), while others start to think about starting a youth group, others contemplate giving out food baskets at Thanksgiving and others get ready, for, dare I say it? Christmas! It is good to be busy and to see so many signs of life in our congregation but lest we forget—worship must always be our first priority. As we are reminded in our Westminster Shorter Catechism, our chief aim in life “is to glorify God and to enjoy him forever!” Amen! See you on Sunday!
